Wisonsin?

In the morning we leave for the great state of Wisconsin to shoot Rachel & Chad's wedding. I've never been to Wisconsin, but everybody I've talked to says how wonderful it is, and apparently it stays light until super late there, which isn't something I'm used to out here in San Diego!

I'll post up some pictures of the journey when we return!

Heather & Ryan: Engagement

On Saturday I met up with Heather and Ryan up in Encinitas, at Moonlight beach, which is one of my favorite beaches in San Diego. Even though it was a bit overcast, we had a great time shooting their engagement session!

Their wedding is in August in Kauai, and I'm so excited for them! They are such a cute couple, and really a lot of fun to be around :) Here's a little slideshow from our time together! If you're friends with them, hit them up for the link to view all the photos!

This is Hilarious

My buddy Josh pointed me towards this website, xkcd.com, and it's basically a daily comic of sorts, and these comics are super funny. They're on the dry/witty side, so if you don't like that, then you probably won't think they are very funny.

EDIT: I've been informed by my wife, that these are in fact, not funny. Hmmm.

Check this one out:

Happy Memorial Day

Yesterday Erin and I spent the afternoon aboard the USS Midway, a decommissioned aircraft carrier that's been turned into a museum here in San Diego. The thing is awesome! We actually went on Saturday as well, but didn't get to see everything, so we had to go back for a second day. I was absolutely amazed at the size of the ship - it's truly a floating city.

The picture above is of the "island" or control tower, which is on top of the carrier deck. And that's my hot wife in the foreground. If you're ever in San Diego, you need to check out the Midway. Well worth it! Here's the website.

Seeing where and how all the men live when they are out at sea made me so grateful for their service. They definitely don't live in glamorous conditions, and they don't have a lot of personal space. The term "serving our country" never meant so much to me - these men and women make so many sacrifices in the name of keeping our freedom. And I'm blown away. It really brought it home for me and made me see an aircraft carrier for more than "just a big boat." Very cool.

So, thank you to all those serving in the armed forces, protecting our country, our freedom, and our way of life.

Use the China!

Erin and I are about to celebrate our 1 year anniversary next month (June 25th!) and I can't believe how quickly a year has gone! We have so much fun together, I'm so dang lucky I get to spend the rest of my life with her!

If you know Erin, you know she's an amazing baker, but what you may not know is what an amazing cook she is, too! The other night, she made an incredible meal (which isn't out of the ordinary) and we decided to use our china. And I love doing that! China isn't just for when you have important people over, or for special occasions, it should be used more often than not!

So, we busted it out (we've used it before, this wasn't the first time in a year, don't worry! And had ouselves a little fancy dinner of honey glazed chicken, roasted lime asparagus, and some of Erin's special sangria. Mmmmmm!

Marriage advice: use your china!

The 5D Came!

A few days ago I ordered me a new camera - the Canon 5D - after much thought and deliberation. And it came today. And I love it! I'm super excited because I'm going to get to use it a bunch this weekend and really get to play with it!!!

I just took this pic of my cat, Gracie, being cool. She's sitting in a desk chair that's next to my editing workstation. She likes to feel like she's a part of things.

Dorky comment: the high-ISO noise reduction on this thing is amazing. This is supposed to have the best noise reduction of any camera on the market, which was a big reason why I bought it. This was 1/60th @ f/2.8 @ 200mm at an ISO of 3200. This is straight out of the camera, too.

Arrrr!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while! I've been so busy lately, which is a good thing, and Erin just Graduated last weekend, so we've been hanging out a ton, which has been wonderful....

Well, in honor of Pirates opening this weekend, I thought I'd post this little thing I ran across today- check it out. I'm a Captain.

My pirate name is:

Captain Jack Flint

Even though there's no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you're the one in charge. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!

Get your own pirate name from piratequiz.com.

Cindy & Jared

What a wedding! On Saturday I shot Cindy & Jared's wedding up in Long Beach, and it was such a wonderful day, for so many reasons. My friend Drew invited me up to shoot wit her, and we had a blast! I always love when Drew and I get to shoot together, even though she is kind of crazy ;) j/k

Cindy and Jared are so fun, and all their friends were so great to be around. I thought I'd quickly post some pics from the wedding...more to come later! Cindy has an awesome story - check it out here. I'm so proud of her! Also, check out Drew's Blog for more pics!

Cindy was so gorgeous, and the whole time she was getting ready she was so happy! Every picture I have of her, she's got this wonderful grin on her face....I love it!

Jared, looking good.

She was leaning slightly to the left all day, I think mostly because of this ROCK on her finger!

The mad dash to the Limo from the suite at the Huntington Beach Hyatt

I love this shot because even though you can't see her face, you can see how HUGE she is smiling! They were both so ecstatic to be married!

He couldn't keep his lips off her....

Almost here...

The new website is almost here! A few finishing touches need to be completed, and then it will be released, and I'm so excited to show you all! Sorry I haven't been blogging more lately, the website has kind of had me consumed with editing pictures and sizing them for the site, and sending them off. Plus, I've got some other pretty big announcements that are coming soon...cool stuff

I'm heading out right now up to Long Beach for Cindy & Jared's wedding, and I'm so amped for this wedding, it's going to be great. I'll post some pictures when I get back :)

UPDATE: So, I have such bad luck! When picking May 5th as the official release date for the new website, I didn't realize that my hosting company also picked May 5th as the date they would change versions of PHP on their server! So, we're currently sorting through some issues caused by the new version of PHP (I'll spare you the boring details), and once we get everything working again, we'll have to test everything out on Safari, Firefox, and Explorer.

I'm bummed, but I'm also excited that my hosting company is so on top of things that they always have the most current things out there. It's pretty cool.

I'll keep you updated - this is where the new website will be announced! Thanks for all the hilarious text messages, friends!
